John Guydish Obituary

John Guydish, who recently turned 80, passed away at his home on Thursday, March 26, after a long battle with leukemia.

Always quick with a smile, John was a familiar face around St. John | San Juan Episcopal Church for many years, leading Education for Ministry classes and participating in the Men’s Group. He and Christie met at a worship service at the church and were married in January of 2017. John was a graduate of St. Martin’s University with a degree in philosophy and was known around Olympia – he worked in the grocery business and drove a bread truck for Franz Bakery

at different times.

John also collected Lionel trains, loved listening to Mariners baseball on the radio, and played cards (pinochle and canasta), dominoes, and backgammon with Christie. After he lost his vision, John was active in the Capital City Council for the Blind.

Please keep in mind John’s wife, Christie; his children, Kim and her husband Paul (granddaughter Jordan), Gretchen and her partner Aaron, Louisa, and Zachary (grandson Onyx). Please also keep in mind stepchildren Jenny, Jeff and his wife Jess (grandchildren Fiona and

Calvin), and Sean. Finally remember brother George and his wife Terry as well as John’s many friends in your prayers.

John did not want a memorial service. The celebration of John’s life and legacy started in the last months of his life and will continue in the hearts of all who loved him in the days, weeks, and years to come, even as he is greatly missed.

Donations in John’s honor can be made to the American Cancer Society.
