Robert Savoie Obituary

Robert Allen Savoie was born on February 1, 1948, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to his mother, Lila Kulackoski. He peacefully passed away on January 13 at the age of 77, in Olympia, Washington, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, craftsmanship, and love.

Known to many as Bob, and to fellow CB radio users as “Metal Man,” Robert moved from New Orleans at just six months old with his mother and older brother, Doug Crawford, settling in Vancouver, Washington. From a young age, Bob showed a natural curiosity for how things worked. That curiosity grew into a lifelong passion for automobiles and tinkering, a passion that shaped both his career and his joy in life.

Bob was at his happiest working with his hands. He loved restoring old cars and eventually turned his skill and dedication into a business of his own, founding and operating Savoie Autobody & Automobile Repair. There, he poured his heart into auto body work, mechanical repairs, and painting, earning respect for his craftsmanship.

Outside of work, Bob found happiness in many hobbies. He enjoyed building RC vehicles and detailed model cars, candle making, and tending to his garden. He especially loved the peace and beauty of the Puget Sound, spending countless hours boating on his many vessels. One of his favorites was his Tollycraft boat, lovingly named “The Rambling Rose,” where he could relax, reflect, and enjoy the water he so cherished with those he loved.

Above all else, Bob valued the people and companions in his life. He is survived by his former wife, Caroline Savoie, with whom he shared two children, Lori Warren and Robert Savoie Jr. He is also survived by his wife, Kellee Savoie, his two brothers, Douglas Crawford and Rick Kulackoski, his loyal dog Luke, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him immense pride and joy.

Robert Allen Savoie will be remembered for his strong hands, inventive spirit, love of the water, and the steady way he cared for those around him. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the work he built, and the love he shared.
