Troy Van Dutton, a devoted father, beloved brother, cherished friend, and proud Army veteran, passed away at the age of 58 in Seattle, Washington.

A gifted barber by trade, Troy’s talents extended far beyond the chair. He was an artist at heart, finding peace and purpose in drawing and expressing the world as he saw it—with honesty, creativity, and heart. More than anything, Troy lived to bring joy to others. His laughter was contagious, his humor effortless, and his ability to brighten even the heaviest moments was a rare and beautiful gift. To those who knew him, Troy will always be remembered for his jovial spirit and his unmistakable presence.

Throughout his life’s journey, Troy carried a resilient heart and an unwavering sense of hope. He was a man full of potential who faced life with optimism, never allowing hardship to extinguish his light. His positive outlook and enduring hope left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Troy’s legacy lives on through his beloved children, Shaliyah Ali and Jaleel Burke; his siblings, Jo Ann Sunkett, Vernell Dutton, Steven Dutton, Larwin Dutton, Bradford Dutton, and Lynette Dutton; and the countless lives he touched along the way. He is reunited in peace with his parents, Donald and Louise Dutton, and his siblings Donald Jr. and Trevor, who preceded him in death.

At this time, the family will not be holding a formal service. A celebration of Troy’s life—one filled with laughter, shared memories, and the stories he loved so dearly—will be held at a later date.
