Obituary: Allen R. Richter August 14, 1962 – June 30, 2025 Allen R. Richter, a devoted husband, U.S. Navy veteran, and accomplished engineer, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 30, 2025, at his home in Shelton, Washington. He was 62. Born on August 14, 1962, in San Diego, California, Allen embodied the values of service, resilience, and generosity throughout his life. At a young age, he answered the call to serve his country, dedicating 17 years to the United States Navy. His time in the military not only shaped his character but also laid the foundation for his lifelong commitment to precision, discipline, and problem-solving. Following his military service, Allen built a distinguished career as an engineer. His work took him to some of the most remote and demanding environments in the world, including the icy frontiers of Antarctica, where he met his wife. He also worked in the rugged landscapes of Alaska, and finally, the Pacific Northwest, where he made his home with his wife for over 29 years. Whether braving extreme conditions or solving complex technical challenges, Allen brought humor, intellect, grit, and a calm determination to every task. Those who knew Allen will remember a man who was larger than life. With a quick wit and an easy laugh, he always made sure everyone was brought into the circle. His generous spirit was matched only by his unwavering willingness to help others—whether that meant lending a hand on a tough project or offering a warm word to someone in need. He had a gift for making others feel seen, heard, and valued. Allen is survived by his beloved wife, Tinyia Profitt-Richter, with whom he shared deep companionship and love; his father, Joseph Richter; his brother, Joseph Richter II; his sister, Wanda Schlosser; his brother-in-law Christepher Profitt; and sister-in-law Kathleen Profitt, and each of their families. He leaves behind not only a loving family, but also a wide circle of friends, colleagues, and shipmates whose lives were richer for having known him. Allen's legacy is one of strength, humor, service, and deep humanity. He will be profoundly missed. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness in Allen’s memory—lend a hand, share a laugh, and take care of one another, as he always did his best to do.
