Stephen Arnold Obituary
Stephen "Steve" L. Arnold passed away unexpectedly at home on September 26, 2024. Steve was born on July 24, 1963, in Olympia, WA. He was the youngest of six children born to Lowell K. "Bud" and Ann Marie Arnold (Bowler). Steve is survived by his siblings: Scott (Diane), Stacy (Judi), Susan (Michael), and Spencer. He was proceeded in death by a brother, Stuart, and his parents. Graduating from North Thurston High School in 1982, Steve started working in construction before joining the Marine Corps in 1988. Steve worked as a refueler for ground operations and served during Desert Storm as Corporal.
After his service, Steve made a career as a heavy equipment operator with Operating Engineers Local 612. He worked for various construction companies with his final position being at KLB. He was honored by his coworkers by flying the Marine Corps flag on his excavator. He was given the nickname "Flash." Steve was also a member of the Olympia Masonic Lodge #1 at the time of his death.
Steve loved working on cars and was proud to race his 1974 Scamp. Steve will be remembered for his humor, dedication and loyalty to his family and his brothers in the Marine Corps. He spent his last few days doing what he loved most, restoring a 1967 Ford Mustang Convertible. He dreamed of owning a 1968 Ford Mustang GT as driven by Steve McQueen in the movie Bullitt. He will be incredibly missed.
It was Steve's desire to be cremated and interred at Tahoma National Cemetery. His wishes will be carried out. The family is having a Celebration of Steve's Life at the Olympia Masonic Center, Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, at 1:00pm and an Internment Ceremony at Tahoma National Cemetery at a later date. Those that wish to honor Steve and share any memories are welcome to attend.
